The Home I Choose
By Gaurav Nardia • 05.JUL.2026
My home won't smell like cigarettes.
My home won't have an angry man.
My home won't make anyone afraid to come back.
My home won't have cracked roofs, broken walls that tell stories of fear.
My home won't have destroyed things just because of someone's anger.
My home won't be full of screams.
My home won't have alcohol on the table every single day.
My home won't have children hiding in their rooms.
My home won't have people scared to speak.
My home won't have tears that no one notices.
My home won't have nights everyone wants to forget.
My home will have peace.
My home will have warm hugs.
My home will have conversations instead of arguments.
My home will be a place where people can breathe.
My home will be a place where people can laugh happily.
My home will be a place where people want to come again and again.
My home will be a place where no knock at the door brings fear.
My home will be a place where children can just be children.
My home will be a place where everyone feels loved.
My home will be everything I never had.
